Perth Quad Bikes - The Basics of Riding a Quad Bike

Last updated 7 months ago

Quad bikes can make great gifts - either for an adventurous friend or family member, or as something to request for yourself. However, you should always keep safety in mind and make sure you learn how to use the vehicle before taking it out.

Learning to ride

Before you take the first ride on your quad bike or ATV, make sure you have all the necessary safety gear, especially a helmet, but also gloves, boots and chest protection. If you've never driven a quad bike before, choosing an all-purpose 50cc quad bike could be a better idea than splashing out on a 110cc model.

Whichever type of quad you buy, the controls and handling will be roughly similar, though may take some getting used to. This includes a thumb throttle on the right handlebar, a clutch on the left handlebar and a handbrake for the front brakes. Rear brakes are usually activated with the right foot pedal.

Quad bike safety

On no account should you take your quad bike to a racecourse or out in public until you feel confident behind the controls - for your own safety as well as that of others. Spending a little extra on a driver's safety course could ensure you have all the knowledge you need to operate your quad effectively and safely.
